A romantic story the IT world can relate with

A lot can happen over coffee - even if you are a tea drinker. The coffee culture of IT companies inspired Amrit N Shetty, an IT project manager with an MNC bank in Gurgaon to pen his third novel - and the first to see the light of day.

"I have been writing since I was eight years old. I used to write ghost stories back then," says Shetty, who burned the proverbial midnight oil for Love Over Coffee, a love story set in an IT company.

The book, says the Mangalore-born Shetty, draws about "15 per cent" from his own life@ work. And no, he did not have an office romance - he's married to a college mate.Shetty, 32, stepped into the IT industry "long before the Google revolution, a time when Hotmail still ruled the roost."

It's his 11 years in the profession - spread across Austin, Dublin and Edinburgh - that gave him enough fodder to weave together a love story orchestrated over surreptitious meetings planned with painful precision, furtive secret conversations and frenetic email exchanges.
