Yes, there are days when even Shiv Khera flounders, in the kitchen, on the stage
A master at the interplay of tangibles and intangibles, Shiv Khera defines his new book, “You Can Sell” as a cookbook, which lists the ingredients that one needs to follow to become successful. Sitting at Tapas lounge bar of Jaypee Vasant Continental, which has come up with a new menu full of signature cocktails and Mediterranean platters, Khera has simple choices. He starts with simple Mulligatawny soup. “I love vegetarian Indian cuisine and my favourites are Punjabi and South Indian food.”
Coming from a family of mine owners, Khera says he was not too much into academics. “I failed in the 10 standard in Modern School but then worked really hard and was one of the students who got first division in the board exams proving to myself that if you put your mind into something, nothing is impossible. However, I was never into dramatics or public speaking during school and college.” When the mines were nationalised, Khera's family lost heavily and he migrated to Canada. He did odd jobs and even before he became a motivational speaker he was inspired enough to experiment in the kitchen. “From chicken to dal chawal, I am adept at different recipes. I make my own pickles but I don't go by the book. I have an idea of what and how much works and more often than not it comes out fine.”
