If there is anyone who is in the running for the award for the most prolific author of serious non-fiction , it's Niall Ferguson. Before the publication of High Financier, the Harvard University don had already penned an astonishing eight books in a little over a decade. Besides, of course, edited books and chapters in books and numerous articles. And the surprising thing is that almost all of his books are solidly researched tomes.
With High Financier, Ferguson has gone back to his original research area — economic history and banking. His first book, Paper and Iron, was on business and politics in Germany between 1897 and 1927. This was followed in quick succession by The History of the House of Rothschild and the Pity of War.
