Famous Hindi writer Achala Nagar on Aug 17 said that Hindi language is surviving due to Hindi films and television programmes.
''The present deplorable state of Hindi is responsible for our lack of concern about the language as Indians are not proud of the national language. But the trend of using Hindi in number of countries in the world has increased in recent time,'' Dr Nagar told UNI here.
Dr Nagar, the daughter of renowned writer late Amritlal Nagar and script writer of famous Hindi films such as Nikah and Bagwan, said people stopped reading Hindi literature due to various reasons and the survival of the language was solely depending on Bollywood Hindi films, television and radio programmes.
Talking about the recent controversy over using some obscene languages by some woman writers, Dr Nagar said that they should use decent language in their writings and if the writers did not follow the norms, they should take criticism into their stride.
