Kerala schools get aid to update libraries

The Kerala state government has sanctioned Rs.20 lakh to three schools to update their libraries under their Promoting Regional Schools to International Standards through Multiple Interventions (PRISM) project.

The state budget for 2009-10 has allotted Rs.30 lakh for this project. The initiative for submitting a project report to the government was taken up by A. Pradeep Kumar, Kozhikode-I MLA so that the money allotted through the project to the three schools can be used to buy books and furniture for their libraries.

The three schools were selected to launch the project, which was included in the 'Vision 2010' of the state government to enhance the quality of education in the government higher secondary schools.

The government Higher Secondary Schools at Karaparamba and Azhchavattom received Rs.6.5 lakh each whereas the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School in Nadakavu received Rs.7 lakh.
