Prof Phulara Nayak, a retired professor of philosophy from Orissa passed away in New Delhi on April 26. Prof Nayak was the mother senior IAS officer of Jammu & Kashmir cadre Sundeep K Nayak who is currently on deputation with Government of India.
A prolific writer and was great lover of Kashmiri language. She had translated a number of Kashmiri folk tales in Oriya and published them in a book form. During her stay with her IAS officer son in Kashmir Prof Nayak was impressed with Kashmiri literature after which she decided to translate the folk tales.
She had been batlling with cancer for last over two years and was admitted in AIIMS for some time. Her body was flown to her home town Bhubeneshwar after which her last rites will be performed in Puri.
