The Hindi film industry is getting ready to pay tribute to India’s most famous poet — Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore — on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary next year.
A special compilation of songs penned by Tagore will hit the market next year with renditions from some of the best voices from the industry.
The project is being produced and directed by Ujjvwal Chatterji who has earlier made two albums on Tagore songs where he has worked with actors like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan.
Now, in this venture lyricist Javed Akhtar will translate renditions from Gitanjali — the poem compilation for which Tagore became the country’s first Nobel laureate — to suit the taste of Hindi music listeners. Music director Aadesh Srivastava will compose the music.
