The HRD ministry is committed to protect hundreds of non-scheduled Indian languages and the endangered languages, said Union HRD joint secretary Anita Bhatnagar Jain.
Speaking at the 42nd anniversary of the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), she spoke on "Language education in India: policies, plans and practices'.
Saying a sub-committee has been working on protecting the non-scheduled Indian languages, she added, "the ministry has been striving to protect the non-scheduled languages of India. It will soon implement the `Bharata Bhasha Vikas Yojana', which is being launched to protect the country's languages."
