Punjab cops think global, want Queen's language

Police in Punjab want to go global. They wish to learn the global language and act global to keep themselves ahead in the years to come.

As many as 98.28 % of the 643 police officials at the Punjab Police Academy (PPA), Phillaur, who took part in a survey, said they want an English speaking course be part of their training curriculum.

The policemen had to go through a self-assessment process with the objective of assessing the relevance of including spoken English courses in their curriculum. The survey, conducted recently by academy deputy director MF Farooqui, revealed that officers with good oral communication skills and knowledge of English rated themselves higher in a number of performance indicators than those with poor knowledge of the language.
