Sahitya Sabha scripts war cure

The Asam Sahitya Sabha is prescribing what European war poets have striven to do for decades — end war with literature.

And for that, the apex literary organisation of Assam wants to translate Assamese texts into English and reach out to the rest of the region.

The general secretary of the sabha, Parmananda Rajbonshi, said the Northeast had turned into a cauldron of suspicion and unrest with frequent fraternal killings between states, especially among those bordering Assam.

“The border flare-up at Charaipung and frequent flare-ups at Merapani are examples of how tense the relationship is with our neighbours,” Rajbonshi said.
