Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily on July 4 said the Centre was ready to support Tamil Nadu's demand to make Tamil as the official Court language in the State.
However, a final decision in this regard has to be taken by the judiciary, he told reporters on the sidelines of a seminar organised by an NGO on Prevention of Crime against Women and Children in the city.
If the Judiciary accepts using Tamil as the Official language of the Madras High Court the Centre was ready to support it, he added.
To a question, Mr Moily said the Centre would bring in necessary amendments in the Law to prevent honour killings. The proposed amendment bill would be placed in the monsoon session of Parliament begining later this month for approval.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, he said by punishing those indulging in crime against Women and Children, the number of crimes would not come down.
