September 14, 1949, was when Hindi was adopted as the official language of the Constituent Assembly.
And with an aim to rekindle the love for India’s official language among students, some schools in Ahmedabad celebrated 'Hindi Diwas' on Tuesday, Sep 14.
Shanti Asiatic School and Delhi Public School (East) celebrated the day with various programmes presented by students at their respective campuses.
The programme at Shanti Asiatic included dances, songs and plays. With Hindi as their theme, the programme saw a speech and greetings being presented in Hindi. Those attending the event, numbering about 150, turned up in traditional attire.
The ‘hasya kavi sammelan’, where students and teachers recited humourous satirical poems, was the main attraction of the programme. Students dressed up as Hindi letters, pronouncing letters in the form of poetry, also made for a very interesting sight. Similarly, DPS (East) celebrated the day with great gusto, wherein the Hindi department held a special session.
