The prestigious Sahitya Bharati Samman 2009 was awarded to eminent literary critic Dr Krushna Chandra Behera in Cuttack on Sunday, March 21.
The award instituted by the Gangadhar Rath Foundation and carrying a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a silver emblem of Sun temple was presented to him by State Higher Education and Culture Minister Debi Prasad Mishra.
Behera’s contribution to Oriya literature in terms of criticism and research over the last 50 years has been immense. His works include Cha Cup Re Jhada, Pipasa Ra Prarthana, Laghu Panchaka, Devi and Sri Jagannath.
