Rajpurohit-Galagnath award for two scholars

Noted researcher T V Venkatachala Shastry and novelist Dayanand Torke have been selected for the Naa Shri Rajpurohit award and Galaganath award respectively for the year 2010. The awards have been instituted by Galaganath- Naa Shri Rajpurohit Pratisthana of Dharwad.

Pratisthana president Professor Dushyant Nadagouda and secretary Manoj Patil said the organization was established in memory of pioneer of Kannada novels and publisher Galaganath and renowned researcher Naa Shri Rajpurohit who strived to inculcate the spirit of Kannada at a time when Marathi, Tamil and Telugu dominated Karnataka. The Pratisthana would publicise the literary works of the two pioneers and make them known to the younger generation. It will also recognize outstanding work by contemporary writers and reward them. T V Venkatachala Shastri has written hundreds of books on various topics in Kannada while Dayanand Torke has carved a niche for himself as a popular novelist.
